Video {Bio}

I have finally finished it! I now have a video bio available for all of you to view! This video is an example of a photo session I had with Marjorie a few weeks ago. I hope it gives all of my clients a view as to what it is like to work with me. Of  course every shoot is different but I think this will be helpful. I hope you all enjoy it! Let me know what you think! Thank you everyone for being so supportive! Click on the photo below to view the video!

New Promo {Ideas}

So I am in the process of designing new promo cards. I want everyone’s opinions on which ones they prefer. Below I have about ten examples. The very last one is the back side which will no matter what be a part of the promo card, I just need help with the front side. I have been given the idea of possibly have one for each category in portraiture such as; children, maternity, families, etc. What do you all think? I have numbered each one to help! I’d really love all of your help! Thank you!

An Interview with {SB Photography & Design}

I had the pleasure of interviewing a very talent young woman who is a friend and fellow photographer, Sayan Becker of SB Photography & Design. She is an amazing woman who works hard to achieve her goals and has an amazing eye for design, fashion and photography. I got the chance to sit down and ask her a few questions about her decisions she has made with her life and graphic design and photography. If you haven’t checked out her work please do so by clicking her name above! You won’t be disappointed!

What interested you in both Graphic Design and Photography?

In high school, I always wanted to be a designer of some sort.  I was in art class, painting, making random sketches. I also was a geek as well, so I figured me being so knowledgeable with computers and an art class, that graphic design is the field I should go into.

Photography came later in the years.  During my senior year of college I took a photography class, I rocked that class inside out, but that wasn’t what convinced me. After I graduated college with a degree BS in graphic design I wanted to get my masters too. As I was looking for schools and my father decided to buy me a 50D. I was walking around San Francisco and right than I fell in love with photography. It’s funny how in an instant you could change paths. Anyways I no longer was looking for graphic design schools instead a photography school.  I figured photography and design will go hand in hand together and open more doors for me in the future.

Do you like to keep your design and photography separate or together? Why?

My ultimate goal is be the one who takes the pictures as well as does the layouts. I envision the whole concept I should be the one who completes it, from start to finish. I am completing school with the degrees and knowledge of fashion advertisement. I want images to sell; I want graphics to pop.

What is your favorite type of  photography?

Fashion advertisement. I enjoy high fashion, but lets hold off on that one until I become rich and famous to afford all the production.

What is it about fashion that keeps you interested?

I love using a model to sell things; it intrigues me. You see billboards with female, male or even both posing either in a sexy, classy, or provocative way. Either way your eyes lead to it, and because of that; who ever created such an image is doing their job right.  No matter what shape and form stores, billboards, and commercials all the glitz and glam are the purpose of selling something.

What is your Favorite part of your Job?

My favorite part of the job, you’re going to laugh is editing, creating the finish product. The production to any of my shoots is hard and stressful, especially if I have to do it by myself.  At the end of it all; me in front of the computer with no one else around me doing what I have to do to make my vision come alive, is peaceful. I am in my zone.

A Photo Of Sayan Becker I Took Recently For Her Website

I want to give a special thanks to Sayan Becker for answering a few questions for me. If you have a question for myself of Sayan feel free to leave a comment and ask away! We are more than welcome to answer!

Social {Obsessed} Media

I am obsessed with social media! Everything! I am one of those people that people look at and roll their eyes because they think its ridiculous how much that person is addicted to Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest. I am literally on each one at least twice a day! I love to stay connected to people and stay updated. I love for my clients to know what I am doing and keep them updated with what is new with my business. Even if you’re not on these everyday do you like me to stay updated? What are your feelings on social media? I want everyone to stay connected to me and see what goes on not even in my business life but even my personal life.

I check Facebook about 20 – 50 times a day. You all probably just dropped your jaws! I did say I was obsessed, I like to make sure that if you all try to contact me, I can get back to you right away. I don’t like to leave you all waiting.

So… Are You A Fan On Facebook?

I have recently created a Twitter. It can become quite addicting once you understand it and get going with it. I usually always tweet when something exciting is happening or if I post photos or a new post on here.

It isn’t exactly like the iPhones but its still Instagram and I’m exciting to start using it to give you all sneak peeks of shoots and just take photos, thats what I love to do after all!

So… Do You Follow Me On Instagram?

Personal {Inspiration}

I hope you don’t mind but today, I’m going to get a little personal. I was given the task to make a post about who/what inspires me. Well, as most of you know not one thing can inspire you, multiple things can. So in this post I am going to list a few things about what truly inspire me.

I am obsessed with country music, and when I say obsessed I mean head over heels in love with country music. Some of you may roll your eyes and think I’m crazy that I love country. I love it so much I get lost in it and sometimes think I was born in the South on a farm and I’m a true redneck, but sadly I was born in sunny California. I don’t know exactly why but I just get lost in country music, it is like my alter ego.

Anyways, there is a point to this and its that one of my biggest inspirations is, Carrie Underwood. I know she is a celebrity and is an easy pick to say she is a inspiration of mine but she is. She has been since she arrived on American Idol. You could say I am her biggest fan. I know I say this all of the time but I truly am a lucky girl, my boyfriend bought me tickets to her concert a little over a year ago for third row seats, center! I went crazy! He knew I had always wanted to see her that close up, and my next step is to hopefully one day meet her. Even though I don’t know her personally I can just tell she is an amazing person to know. I admire her fighting for her goals in life. It seems to be the same fight I have in myself. Carrie’s music touches me. No matter where I am if I hear her music I will break out and start singing. I apologize to the people around me to have to hear me freak out and listen to me sing. Every song of hers is truly amazing and like I have already said I can just get lost in a song. Below is a photo of one of my dreams coming true.

Well, like I said multiple things inspire me. Carrie is only a small inspiration to me. Where would I be without my family and friends? The answer is I would not be anywhere. My family is such a big inspiration to me. They give me the drive to push myself to become a better person, and to overcome every obstacle in my life. My family is literally everything to me. Below is a photo of part of my family at my sister’s wedding last August.

Another inspiration of mine is my best friend Kayci and my boyfriend Andrew. They both have done so much for me. They push me everyday and I admire them both going after what they want in life no matter what. They both know what matters to them and they don’t question anything.

Kayci has been by my side for over eight years now. I know I can always count on her, she is the only friend of mine who has stuck by my side through middle school, high school, and college, and I can’t wait to see how much more we help each other through over the years. I know this girl will always be in my life, she is like a sister to me.

Andrew has been a huge part of my life for almost three years now. I don’t know what I would do without him. He is my world and I KNOW I wouldn’t be where I am today without this man by my side. He is such a big inspiration to me! He may even be the biggest inspiration to me. For years I have been watching him try to become part of the Sheriffs Department. Even though we have ran into walls, I know one day his dream will come true. I respect that drive so much! Thank you for pushing so hard and making me do the same.

Now that I have shared what and who inspires me, I have a question for all of you…..

Leave a comment below on what inspires you. I would love to know. If you enter in a comment you can be entered in a drawing to win 25% off your next photo session with me. At least ten people must comment below for a drawing to happen so make sure you share this blog post with everyone! Good luck!

What’s In My {Camera} Bag?

I have seen photographers post about what they carry in their camera bags, prop bags, any bag they use on a shoot. I decided I’ll give it a try and show you all what I have in my bag.

Most of you have seen me lugging around not a bag but a SUITCASE! Yes, it basically is a suitcase. It is actually better than my actual suitcase. With Christmas money I got this year I was lucky enough to trade it all in for a new camera bag. I used to have a backpack camera bag and that began to overload and hurt my back. I was in desperate need of an upgrade. I believe I upgraded to THE BEST camera bag any photographer could get. Ladies and Gentleman let me introduce you to…. The Airport Security™ V 2.0 Rolling Camera Bag from Think Tank!

You may think to yourself, WOW Brittany that is a huge bag, what do you carry in it? My answer to you is simple, almost everything a photographer needs. Thats not even true. As a photographer you need alot but this is a good amount for me now. When you open up my bag it is a bag of goodies for me!

We will start with the basics that everyone would expect in a photographer’s bag. MY BABIES! Yes, my babies all five of them have a nice slot for each of them in my bag to keep them nice and safe. From my last post you know I recently got an 85mm lens {the newest baby} but I have plenty of other babies and here they are! From left to right we have my favorite baby, the 50mm lens. I love this lens and use it for almost any shoot. The next is my newest, the 85mm lens. My new baby that is trying to replace my love for my 50mm. The next baby is my wide, the 10mm-25mm lens. This was my first lens given to by my father. Two more left and the next is my 18mm-105mm. This is a generic lens that I don’t use much it is the lens that comes when your purchase a camera. Last but of course not least is my telephoto lens, the 55mm-300mm! This lens is my second favorite right behind the 50mm. It is great for portraits and of course nature! I am looking forward to expanding my family and adding on a macro lens in the near future. All of my lenses are Nikon lenses except for my wide which is a Tamron.

Then the randoms come along. These are the items clients don’t normally think about but they are very helpful to make gorgeous photos. Top row starting left to right: We have two Pocket Wizards. Some of you may be like what are those? Are they Walkie Talkies? In a way they are walkie talkies but they aren’t. These allow me to take my flash or any light off camera and trigger it to my camera so the lights go off when I press the shutter. Next is my Flash, the Nikon SB 900 Speedlight. This of course allows me to add more light into a photograph. This is my life saver and has been throw some rough times with me, including a desert tortoise pushing it on the gravel. Next is my light meter, the Sekonic L-358 FlashMaster. This helps me read the light a tell me what to shoot at so I get the correct lighting. On the bottom row left to right we have: My Gray Card and Whi-Bal Cards. These keep my color correct so my clients aren’t blue or orange in a portrait. Of course I have my cleaning products, Purosol lens cleaner, Lenspen lens brushes and wipes. Then lastly, I of course have an extra camera battery. You never know what can happen and always need to be prepared.

Then Lastly, in my camera bag I of course have MY CAMERA, the Nikon D90! I love my camera. It really has been good to me and treats my clients and myself well. I couldn’t do what I love to do without it. I of course had to make it a little “Brittany” and added the PhatStrap with my zebra and my favorite color neon green!

Well, thats what is in my camera bag, well most of it. I of course have random things, such as battery changer, random cords, protective gear for my bag, batteries and of course memory cards which are actually in the first photo. I hope that gave you a little insight to what goes on in my bag. If anyone has questions or suggestions on what I could add let me know!

My Newest Baby {85mm}

I am a Nikon addict! Ever since I have been interested in photography I have always shot with a Nikon. As a photographer you are often trying to grow your collection of equipment. I don’t like to call it my equipment though, I call it my family {my camera family, of course!}. I am lucky enough to have my family growing quite fast! The newest addition to my family is the 85mm Nikon lens. It was my birthday about two weeks ago and my mother’s gift to me was this lens! I am such a spoiled girl! I am so lucky for the things I am given in my life. I have gotten to do two shoots with this lens so far and it is amazing! I absolutely love it! It will not replace my favorite lens the 50mm though! I call it my baby because since I don’t have children {and I won’t for a long time!} these are basically my children. I take care of them, make sure their clean, and make sure their safe 24/7. I love my babies! Here are some photos of my newest baby!

I finally got my website to point where I actually enjoy it. For months now I have been switching things around, moving photos, different colors, and now I finally have it the way I want, with a few exceptions. I would love every one of your opinions to what you think. You are the ones who will be looking at it and deciding if I am the photographer for you.

Please go take a look at my website,

Thank you everyone and hope you enjoy!
